The pancreas has two functions in the body Endocrine function: where it produces insulin; Exocrine function: production of enzymes in the digestion and absorption of food; Through meals we stimulate the pancreas to produce insulin and that is where we end up ingesting the sugar that is present in different foods, this would be the moment where insulin would come in to do its function of However, it is insufficient for the breakdown of sugar. breakdown of sugar, because of this the ingested sugar ends up accumulating in the cells and in other organs, causing hyperglycemia, one of the symptoms of Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus, which can cause many complications.Item Tecnologia educacional sobre diabetes mellitus tipo 1 para adolescentes: produção baseada em evidências(Universidade do Estado do Amazonas, 2023-03-03) Brandão, Rebekah Bastos; Ferreira, Darlisom de Sousa; Teixeira, ElizabethProduce an educational guide based on scientific evidence available in literature on self-care strategies for adolescents living with diabetes mellitus type 1. Method: Methodological study carried out in two phases: literature review and production of the first version of the guide. Results: The revision of the guide made it possible to access 11 articles. From the analysis and synthesis of the articles, 9 generating themes emerged. The first version of guide was organized based on the generating themes. The Guide contains texts with language simple illustrations that refer to the texts. Conclusion: The guide was produced based on scientific evidence that provides safe and up-to-date information and can contribute to the adoption of an appropriate lifestyle, a fundamental factor in controlling metabolic rate of adolescents with type 1 Diabetes Mellitus
