Item Problematizações curriculares no ensino de ciências a formação para a cidadania e o empowerment político(Universidade do Estado do Amazonas, 2015-09-17) Lorenzon, Mateus; Silva, Jacqueline Silva da; Barcellos, Guy BarrosIn this review we discuss Science Teaching in the present-days, highlighting that it should be directly related to citizenship education. Thus, a revision on guiding epistemological concepts is required, orientating to political empowerment, avoiding cultural apathy. This article is composed by two sections. In the first one: “Science as modern ideology”, discussing the role of scientific knowledge in the modernity and the constitution of the rational person. In the following section: “Critical Science Education: Science as a tool for political empowerment”, discussing the possibilities of a coexistence between scientific knowledge, and those provided by common sense. We conclude outlining some goals that could compose Science teaching curricula of elementary school. Keywords: Science teaching; Scientific literacy; Political empowerment
