The purpose of this paper is to analyze the deployment process of the rural school D. Pedro II, established in the provincial "Pinheiro" farm, close to Belém, showing its importance, in order to developing and the prosperous future of agriculture in the Amazon region, considering the promotion of rural education and agrarian sciences. This school represented a clash between customary actions of the settlers and the discourses of civility undertaken by the provincial government, which had in the administrative structure of the school its most direct representatives. These issues to be discussed, if so, how are necessarily important to understand the process of formation of a discourse that presents education bound knowledge of science as a strategy to civilize the rural Amazonian populations.
