The general objective is to research the culture and history of the municipality of Maués through oral narratives told by the elderly. To achieve this objective, phenomenological methods were used, with a qualitative approach, supported by a bibliographic research that talks about oral narratives, history, culture, individual memory, collective memory and the memory of the elderly as a historical rescue. The field research was carried out in the municipality of Maués, in the interior of Amazonas, where a total of 30 narratives from the elderly were collected, of which 05 (five) were selected, as they contain more important data for the history of the municipality in question. Through the analysis of the narratives, physical, historical and cultural changes were observed. It was noticed the cultural erasure, the devaluation of guarana, changes in the customs of the Maueense people, which are gradually being modified by the advance of modernity. For this reason, there is a need for cultural rescue to keep the memory and customs of our people alive, with the aim of valuing and preserving who we are. In order to strengthen our studies, the theoretical basis came from the works of Cascudo (1978), Bossi (1994), Todorov (2006) and others.Acesso AbertoNarrativas OraisHistóriaCultura MaueenseMemóriaIdosoNarrativas orais: relatos históricos da cidade de Maués-AM sob a perspectiva de alguns idosos do município.Oral narratives: historical accounts of the city of Maués-AM from the perspective of some elderly people in the municipality.Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso
