The stories contribute for the development of reading, writing and oral communication, besides this contact may raise awareness and instill curiosity about thefeatures of the themes and characters. Teachers can use stories to draw knowledge coming from different areas such as the Natural Sciences (NS). This article aims to highlight the didactic potential of the story ‘A lovely confusion' (RANGEL, 2008) to access knowledge from NS in the literacy cycle of Elementary School. The research is qualitative, bibliographical and supported by the exploratory descriptive method. The children's story 'A lovely confusion' has a plot with the potential to mediate knowledge from the NS area, especially concerning diversity and classes of vertebrates, habitat and lifestyle in different environments, diets and healthy eating.
