In this work we analyze contributions and limits of an educational proposal for the teaching of Chemistry in Youth and Adult Education, based on the principles of Paulo Freire and Jürgen Habermas, highlighting the concepts of dialogue, problem-posing and understanding. The development of this proposal aggregates research with qualitative emphasis involving three stages, in Curitiba, Paraná, in 2015. The first stage was designed to know the conditions and characteristics of the subjects involved in the educational actions. In the second stage, with the recognition of limit situations, educational activities and didactic materials were developed. In the third stage, after the development of educational actions, interviews were conducted with the participants. Data were analyzed according to Content Analysis. Regarding the contributions of this proposal, we highlight the dialogue, problem-posing and search for understanding. However, some limits regarding the perception of some students about this process were identified.Keywords: Youth and Adult Education. Chemistry Teaching. Dialogue. Problem-posing. Understanding.
