Item Conhecimento dos acadêmicos de enfermagem acerca das infecções sexualmente transmissíveis(Universidade do Estado do Amazonas, 2018-08-20) Vinente, Daniele MouraThe objective of this study was to evaluate and characterize the knowledge of the Nursing academics of the State University of Amazonas about Sexually Transmitted Infections, as well as the use of preventive methods aimed at these diseases. It is a quantitative, exploratory and descriptive study, carried out from March 2017 to May 2018. The population consisted of 53 academics, 29 from the second period and 24 from the ninth period. Data collection was performed after signing the TCLE, through self-administered, anonymous and individual questionnaires. It was decided to present some variables by means of tables and others in a descriptive way. RESULTS: the participants of this study are described by a relatively young population with a mean age of 23.5 years, the majority of whom are declared single, but all with active sexual lives with a mean of 1.3 to 2.5 partners for the periods respectively . Being at the beginning of the process of baccalaureate composed by equal parts between men and women and at the end of the course there is a predominance of women. As for the findings, a disturbing fact was that 02 students answered that AIDS has a cure, 13 students pointed out Syphilis and Gonorrhea as STIs that do not present cure, a disturbing fact since among health students such doubts should not exist. It is concluded that the students of the second period presented greater doubts about the subject, which raises the discussion about how this subject is approached in the whole process of formation during the 8 bachelor degree. Strategies should be discussed in order to modify these findings since the nurse trained among his / her duties is to act as a guideline of the population he / she intends to attend and in this way the same should not have doubts as was identified in this study
