(carapanaúba), na prevenção e tratamento da malária, no município de São Gabriel da Cachoeira - AM(Universidade do Estado do Amazonas, 2019-10-04) Gonçalves, Cristiane Bernardo; Costa, Max Adilson LimaThe use of medicinal plants for the treatment of tropical diseases such as malaria in the Amazon is of paramount importance for the people who suffer from the cases of malaria. Indigenous people, in turn, are the ones who have the most knowledge of the techniques used on the use of medicinal plants and the employment is transmitted by generations orally, which is part of their cultural tradition. in the municipality of São Gabriel da Cachoeira-AM, municipality with the largest number of indigenous inhabitants in the Brazil, knowledge of the properties of medicinal plants is one of the greatest riches of this culture. In view of the above, the objective of this work is to carry out the survey on the use of the plant species popularly known as carapanaúba, as a medicinal plant in the municipality of São Gabriel da Cachoeira - AM, as part of the rescue and maintenance of popular knowledge and preservation of the use of this natural resource. This work was carried out in the urban area of the municipality of São Gabriel da Cachoeira in the State of Amazonas, upper Rio Negro. qualitatively and predominantly descriptive and bibliographical, the data were obtained in the form of questionnaires, descriptive texts and speeches of the interviewees, in which they were randomly selected 50 people, all were indigenous. was presented a consent form, as they are human beings. The data collected show that carapanaúba is used in tea and the method of preparation is through maceration. Because it facilitates its compounds to be extracted, for use as a prevention/cure for malaria. Carapanaúba is not used with frequency, but most have already used it. It is important to note that according to data there was a decrease in malaria cases. Knowledge of medicinal plants is being threatened by the migration of peoples to the city, which can be lost along the of years. For this, initiatives must be taken to rescue this knowledge, through booklets and awareness in schools.
