A importância da prática da leitura no ensino superior

This text seeks a reflection on the absence of reading practice, a recurring and relevant fact found among the academics of any Higher Education institutions. The reason for these facts being presented lead us to believe that the lack of reading incentive, or its absence, has been long-standing, from the family scope, passing through the first contact with the school environment, and reaching the present day. As consequence of the technological evolution that surround us, the individual set himself to the practicality, failing to practice some activities, such as reading books, journals and magazines, factors that enrich the students’ vocabulary, knowledge and performance. The work was based on bibliographical research and discussion about the proposed theme. Reading is a key factor for learning, which consequently contributes to both intellectual and professional performance and training of the Higher Education academics, making them individuals who will best understand the whole social reality.
