Resumo
This work addresses the redesign of the main landing gear of the URUTAU Aerodesign team,
which participates in the SAE Brasil AeroDesign competition annually, using the DFMA
(Design for Manufacturing and Assembly) methodology integrated with ER (Reverse
Engineering). The main cause for approaching the theme was observed during the competition
in São dos Campos - SP, where during the assembly of the main landing gear there were great
difficulties, because for the assembly of this component there was a large number of parts, most
of them presenting Assembly. For this we sought methods that could help in the design of a
landing gear that presented greater ease of assembly and consequently manufacturing, and then
defined the Lucas method of DFMA, which later found that needed an auxiliary tool to be able
to Using the existing component as a basis for study, the use of RE (reverse engineering) was
defined. Using in this work the DFMA method integrated reverse engineering as a methodology
for the redesign, and its evaluation parameters for resizing the assembly requirement.
Subsequently, the geometry of the redesigned component was defined where significant
reductions were obtained for the evaluation indices of the method used. Reduction from 20
pieces to just 6, which corresponds to a 42% gain for functional analysis, 72% reductions for
feed analysis and 84% for assembly analysis. Finally, the simulations were performed using the
finite element method with the loading of the component to prove that it met the structural
criteria required by the competition and was able to be manufactured and used by the team in
the competition.
