Resumo
The study addressed the theme of teacher satisfaction and suffering in the exercise of the
profession and the objective was to analyze the satisfaction and suffering in the exercise
of teaching before and during the telework regime during a COVID-19 pandemic. For
this, factors that promoted suffering and/or satisfaction with the exercise of teaching were
sought both in face-to-face work (before the pandemic) and in telework (during a
pandemic); to identify changes brought about by telework to the teaching practice and to
verify possible that teachers were using to face possible sufferings arising from the
telework modality. Three teachers from the 3rd year of the early years of elementary
school participated in this research. The qualitative research carried out was a case study
that had participant observation as a data collection instrument - both in person from the
participants' classes, and from the virtual group that constituted during the telework,
document analysis, open and semi-structured interviews with the participants by Google
Meet and the application of a professional questionnaire by Google Forms. The study
identified that before the pandemic mixed classes, with literate and non-literate students;
age lag of students; the production of quantitative indices that do not correspond to the
school reality were factors that caused teacher suffering, while satisfaction occurred when
efforts to teach literacy were made by the parents of students. We found that telework
changed the schedule and routine of teaching and that in this new regime, the suffering
was due to the overload, the lack of a fixed time to start and end activities, the requirement
to produce evidence that they were really working and excessive messages from parents
on WhatsApp, including data considered inadequate. Satisfaction with telework was a
controversial point, as for some participants it was advantageous to work at home and
take care of the family at the same time, while for others, it was an invasion of the private
space of the home. We identified that between the teachers to deal with the suffering
arising from telework was a red of support existing between them and the property of
limit of times and days of work the long of week.
