Resumo
This work was intended to locate and explore the problem involving teacher and
Venezuelan student, concerning the difficulty of learning when teacher and student
don’t speak the same language. Also, it was shown which tools this teacher had used
so the student could learn the Portuguese language as an additional language and
then catch up with the other Brazilian students on the school content. The research
method used was qualitative and documentary research, with aspects of action
research, observation and interview. The result analysis method was the dialectical so
it would be possible to understand how the tool used by the professor was effective to
improve the Venezuelan student learning although the language differences. The
research proved to be relevant in the way of identifying and understanding where public
policies are still needed for the insertion of immigrants and refugees on the Brazilian
public education system, recognizing that could be implemented a program of sharing
culture and language between the individuals inside the school context, and how this
can enrich everyone involved socioculturally.
