Resumo
In this paper, we seek to reflect on the multiple meanings of water
related to the caboclo imaginary based on the novel Chuva Branca, published in 1968 by
Paulo Jacob. In this analysis, we take into consideration the mediate aspects linked to beliefs,
the myths and superstitions that populate the mind of the Amazonian man, addressing the religious aspect that
religious aspect that is also complementary to this human being. Of indigenous origin, but also with
with strong traces of the North-East, the Amazonian caboclo is predominantly
Catholic, a product of the religion brought by the European settlers. The approach to the subject requires
knowledge of the Amazonian universe, its culture and the exuberant forest, cut by rivers that
which bring apparent and transcendental meanings.
