A utilização de temas geradores na educação matemática aplicados no ensino básico

Abstract

This theoretical study was carried out during the period of facing the new coronavirus pandemic and intense political polarization, with Paulo Freire being the object of discussions and criticisms by the current federal government. The objective of this work is to contribute to the teaching and learning of Mathematics through the methodology of generating themes, presented in Pedagogy of the Oppressed. The research is bibliographical and a survey of works and theoretical studies was carried out on the relationship and contributions of the generating themes with the contents of Mathematics in basic education. The research presents a detailed analysis of the profile of the mathematician educator, the stages of investigation of the themes and all the precepts raised by Paulo Freire on liberating education in his work Pedagogia do Oprimido. Qualitative and methodologically descriptive, the research examined works, theses, dissertations, articles and several studies that involved the approach of the generating themes with Mathematics, which pointed not only benefits in practice but also adaptations of its method, applications in modalities of teaching such as Youth and Adult Education (EJA) and Rural Education, its relationship with other pedagogical trends such as transversal themes and the learning acquired by students who come to see Mathematics present in their daily lives. The research was carried out in the year of Paulo Freire's centenary, being a tribute to the great legacy of the current Patron of Brazilian Education. Keywords: Generative themes. Math.
