Resumo
Physical Education knowledge in early childhood education, when developed in
a pedagogical way, allows children to discover new ways of moving. Therefore, this curricular
component effectively contributes to the overall development of children. In order to relate this
component to children's motor skills, we highlight General Gymnastics (GG), which is
considered the basis of initial movements that aims to use expressive possibilities in movement,
with social interaction, in addition to favoring the development of children in a comprehensive
way, with countless playful possibilities. Objective: To report my academic experiences
acquired in the development of an extension project on general gymnastics for early childhood
students. Methodology: This is an experience report based on the experiences acquired during
the extension project <Motrivivência: practicing gymnastics in early childhood in a preschool=.
The project was developed at the Elza Damasceno Da Silva Municipal Early Childhood
Education Center (CMEI), located in the Santo Antônio neighborhood, in the city of Manaus -
Am. It served approximately 55 early childhood education students aged 4 and 5 years old for
a period of one year (2023/2024). Experience report: The activities were planned and
organized according to each age group and carried out in a playful way. Throughout the
development of the project, it was possible to notice significant and positive changes in the
students' fine and global motor coordination, laterality, flexibility, as well as greater security
and confidence in performing gymnastics positions. Final considerations: The development
of coordinating and conditional capacities through general gymnastics allowed children to
explore their movements in a playful way, respecting their limits. Therefore, the results
demonstrated that there was a significant improvement in fine and gross motor coordination,
balance, flexibility, and gymnastic and acrobatic movements, providing greater confidence and
autonomy in the students. In addition to understanding the encouragement and motivation given
to students in carrying out activities, which contributed to their motivation and engagement
