Resumo
Since ancient times, societies have tried to subject women to men. This power relationship has been reflected in historical approaches, by illuminating male protagonism to the detriment of women's performance. The 20th century historiography brought to the fore new objects, approaches and problems, reflecting the transformations that took place in the political arena, such as the struggles and achievements of feminism in public spaces. The “historiographical revolution” gave rise to new social actors, including women. This article will deal with the female role in the political performance of Geminiana Campos Bulcão Bringel in the Parintins City Council. From the Oral History Methodology, we intend to analyze the trajectory of the councilor and educator and aspects of female protagonism in the political action of Parintins, in the Lower Amazon. In the memoirs about her performance, stories of political struggles fought inside and outside the Parintins City Council, between the 1950s and 1960s, reveal the transformations and achievements, often motivated or crossed by gender inequalities.
