The cleft lip and palate are facial congenital malformations. They are also known as developmental defects and have multifactorial genetic alterations characterized by an abnormal space or cleft in the bony or mucosal region of the palatine vault, which may involve lips, alveolar ridge and palate, causing aesthetic disorders, functional and psychosocial aspects. These malformations are present during intrauterine life and consequently at birth, presenting some variations of complexity and divisions, usually due to extension. The fissured patient may have scars on the lip, nasal deformities, dental absences, diastema, malocclusion in a retracted maxilla, nasal voice, or a combination of these phenomena. The rehabilitation treatment for the sealing of existing oroantral communication can be performed using modified removable partial denture and / or surgeries. This article is a case report of a 25-year-old male patient with a cleft palate who sought the UEA's Center for Dental Specialties (CEO-UEA) to perform a rehabilitation of his oral condition. A removable partial denture was made with modification to seal the existing communication in the anterior, medial and posterior palate, consequently affecting hard and soft palate due to cleft palate. Improvement of aesthetics was planned using an artificial tooth in the denture and restoration with resin composite in a teeth, for a closing of diastema. The proposed approach reestablished improvements in swallowing and phonation, aesthetic and psychosocial, providing the retrieval of the functionality of the structures altered by the anomaly in question, in addition to improving self-esteem due to the aesthetic satisfaction provided to the patient. Despite the patient’s improvement in swallowing and speech, for better results the patient was referred to a speech therapist. It was possible to verify the effectiveness of the work, both in functional and aesthetic aspects
