Resumo

The teaching of trigonometry is of incalculable importance in the area of basic and higher mathematics, given its infinite use in the most diverse areas of engineering, architecture and astronomy, among others. Its approach to Calculus gives the student a different view of the subject, since in Calculus teaching, in general, trigonometric functions are not shown in depth with different applications. Given the fact that there are few or no actions with basic education teachers seeking to improve teaching in order to contradict the idea of difficulty, and also the fact that the university (CEST) does not have a mathematics laboratory, where would have a greater emphasis on teaching practical trigonometry with academics in order to alleviate the supposed difficulties in understanding and to assist in the practice of teaching Calculus in classes taught to academics of the Mathematics and Physics course at the Centro de Estudos Superiores de Tefé, this project is justified as an innovative instrument of interaction and cooperation between the university and the school community and, of course, strengthening the knowledge and learning of the academics involved. Although part of the Trigonometry content is part of the Basic Education curriculum, it is observed that most students arrive at the university with little knowledge of trigonometric concepts. This finding compromises academic learning since Trigonometry appears almost entirely in the curriculum of mathematics courses. This gap in the academic background has promoted mechanical learning, based on memorization, on the application of rules that are almost always disconnected from practical meaning. The teaching of Calculus at the university also deserves special attention, with regard to exposing the content and consequent exercise resolutions. There is a high failure rate in Calculus subjects in exact sciences courses at CEST. Thus, the project encourages and helps students to achieve better performance in this area. In the certainty of improving the learning of these academics, the project will be highly profitable. In addition, the instruments handcrafted during the project will be available for use by other teachers at CEST and public schools in Tefé
