Resumo
This article is the result of a research carried out with students of the 6th Year of Elementary School of a municipal school in Parintins / Amazonas and with some teachers of Basic Education, and its general objective is to analyze the contributions of the use of the checkered grid for the learning of calculus of perimeter and area. To obtain in-depth and comprehensive results, the research is classified as qualitative and quantitative. As a research technique, we used intensive direct observation (participant observation) and extensive (questionnaire application). We also did the pre-test and post-test application. Through the analysis of the data, carried out by the process of categorizing the collected data, we realized that the checkered grid can facilitate the student's learning to calculate perimeter and area.
