Resumo
This article aims to argue about the latent need to discuss the performance of bibliotherapy in dedicating itself to the treatment of emotional ills through books. In this way, the following work brings mass literature, specifically comics (comics) and their styles, as a means of providing, through its aesthetic, the cathartic and epiphanic sensations that help human beings to purge the feelings bad. Delimiting the greatness of mass literature to works from Japan, South Korea, Thailand and China, we then have literary material that has drawn the attention of many in recent times, either because it presents taboo themes or because of its peculiar way of attracting the reader, as is the example of having in his literature space for a sexual diversity in which the society of this continent tends not to approach the subject with so much naturalness and understanding. In any case, its deconstructed narration, which does not live up to its cultural traditions, generates a lucrative export product of great interest to other continents. In this way, through the readings of works that follow the premise of entertaining, sometimes seen as inferior to the others, they are defended here in the face of frequent accusations that this literature “has nothing to contribute”, thus arguing about the their capacity, through a diversity of topics, to dialogue with the emotional pains and interests of their readers, helping them, in a therapeutic way, to deal with the frustrations that affect us all. At the other extreme, there is also a need to discuss its value in reader training, since it is through these books that we find the opportunity to establish a habit that can only contribute to the personal development of the individual and society, taking into account considering that, through this entertainment literature, we find a path in which it becomes possible to establish communication with these young readers, providing opportunities, in spaces such as schools and universities, access to a dialogue on issues that humanize us. Based on this, this study intends to present a broader view on the reading of comics, which are sometimes treated as texts of lesser importance, enabling a less stereotyped notion that limits the greatness of mass literature. For this, the theoretical basis of this work will include authors such as Caldin (2001), Cândido (2011), Ferreira (2003), Santoni (2017), Luyten (2001) Gusmão e Souza (2020), among others who contributed to the promotion of this article.
