Diagnóstico e perspectivas do ensino de ciências naturais em uma escola pública do município de Parintins-AM

Resumo

Currently, much is said about the low quality of education, including in Science Education. In this context, the present study aimed to make a diagnosis of the Teaching of Natural Sciences in a public school in the municipality of Parintins-AM. This work was developed with students and teachers of elementary school and school entity. The diagnosis was made by filling out a questionnaire, with quantitative and qualitative questions, for three months. With the tabulation and treatment of data in an Excel spreadsheet. 81.25% of students answered that they understand science teaching as a discipline that teaches about the environment, animals, human body, soil, plants, etc. 79.10% answered that they like the discipline, as it teaches to know the human body, living beings, the environment, etc. 50.74% of the students answered that the teacher uses an easy language to explain the contents of Sciences. 82.08% of the students checked the option “the noise in the room” among the reasons that make it difficult to better understand science subjects. 73.13% replied that the teacher shows where a given subject of Sciences can be related to their daily lives. 86.56% of the students answered that the teacher usually uses the textbook in the classroom as didactic resources. 52.23% of the students answered that there are no practical classes in the laboratory. 91.04% marked the option experiments, for teaching techniques that they would like to be used more in class. 37.31% of students answered that classes need to improve. Teachers perform bimonthly planning, and follow the syllabus. The lecture was presented as the modality most used by teachers. The school has achievement rates in IDEB of 5.5 in 2011, in ENEM of 544.67 in 2010 and in IDEAM of 4.8 in 2010. The realization of this study showed that the teaching of this discipline still requires changes in relation to its methodology and didactics to achieve the expected and desired objectives. Teaching problems are related to the concept of Science and Education that permeates our practice and to the concept of teaching and learning that is established in the classroom. It requires more interaction between theory and practice, so that students, in elementary school, acquire the necessary knowledge and skills.
