O flâneur e a rua: associações entre a crônica narrativa de João do Rio e a crônica visual do Otoni Mesquita

Abstract

To get to know a city, you have to experience its streets, walk, get lost and discover its its particularities. Based on this idea, we have adopted the flâneur as a fundamental character who is manifested in João do Rio's narrative chronicles and in Otoni Mesquita's visual and in Otoni Mesquita in the visual chronicle. This research is based on scholars such as Walter Benjamin, Renato Cordeiro Gomes and Antônio Cândido, besides the texts of the chroniclers. As a methodological approach was adopted a qualitative research, to enable the comparative analysis between the narratives. The type of research is exploratory, from which from which we identify the two characters as flâneurs and their works as manifestations of this walk through the city. After this path, we believe to present the continuity of a practice of perception and appropriation of the city through the chronicle.
