Resumo

Considering the lack of interest in botany subjects in Science teaching in schools, the insecurity of teachers in teaching classes on the subject and the importance of the plant kingdom for Amazonian ecosystems, the objective of this study was to evaluate the potential of using plant species present in schools in teaching activities that allow students to acquire the skills provided by BNNC for teaching Science. The research was conducted in the municipality of Tefé, AM. Five schools in the urban area were selected, using as criteria those that obtained the lowest IDEB index (2021) and that offer basic education. A floristic survey was carried out in each of the schools and three didactic sequences (DS) were created for the 2nd, 7th and 8th year of elementary school using the constructivist theoretical framework. As a result, all schools presented floristic composition on their premises, however, with wide variation. E.M. Doroteia Bezerra dos Santos had only 6 species, while E.E. Getúlio Vargas presented 38. The didactic sequences prepared addressed the following themes: structure and functions of plants, ecosystems and their correlation with flora and comparison of different reproductive processes in plants in relation to adaptive and evolutionary mechanisms. The DSs include didactic modalities of expository classes, debates and research that use plant species as a demonstrative and investigative tool for teaching and learning, bringing the student closer to the practice of observing nature, spreading knowledge about the fundamental role of plants in maintaining the life on earth, combat botanical blindness and form citizens with sustainable thoughts and attitudes.
