Resumo
The purpose of this monograph was to analyze the Indigenous Intercultural Games as an
element in the processes of identity affirmation and appreciation of indigenous culture from the
experiences of young people from Barreira da Missão Tefé/AM. For this we used the qualitative
method, literature review, document analysis and as a source oral interviews with young
residents of Barreira. We used as main theorists Priscila Faulhaber, João Pacheco de Oliveira,
Leila Mirtes Santos Magalhães Pinto, Stuart Hall, Kathryn Woodward, Michael Pollak, Karla
Rossana Gomes Lôbo e Verônica Salgueiro do Nascimento. As a result, we found that the
realization of the Indigenous Intercultural Games in the community, contributes to the youth to
identify with the indigenous culture, that most young people recognize themselves as
indigenous, although some do not know how to justify this statement, that the games were one
of the ways found to insert young people into practice for the appreciation of indigenous culture
and their identities, as well as to get them out of the vices that enter the community, encouraging
a sustainable and healthy life, that the event is one of the ways to make them more aware
politically and environmentally, generating awareness of their own humanity.
