Dificuldades na aprendizagem de equações do 1º grau nos 7º e 8° anos em uma escola estadual no município de Parintins

Abstract

This article aims to investigate the difficulties faced by 7th and 8th grade students in learning first-degree equations at a public school in the municipality of Parintins. A qualitative approach was adopted, through classroom observation, application of a diagnostic test with students, and interviews with the subject teacher and students from the class. The diagnostic test revealed significant difficulties related to basic operations, understanding the concept of equality, and the use of letters in algebra. The interviews highlighted challenges such as gaps in prior knowledge, difficulties with algebraic symbols, lack of interest in the subject, and obstacles related to interpreting problems. The results point to the need for more dynamic and contextualized methodologies that facilitate the transition from arithmetic to algebraic thinking and make the teaching of equations more accessible and meaningful.
