Resumo

To assess the impacts caused by sleep apnea on the quality of life of users of the Amazonas Otorhinolaryngology Disease Observatory Center. Methodology: A quantitative descriptive-correlational, cross-sectional study to assess the impacts caused by sleep apnea on the quality of life of users of the Amazonas Otorhinolaryngology Disease Observatory Center. For this purpose, a semi-structured questionnaire with questions about clinical conditions, social, economic and population characteristics will be applied, in addition to the WHO Quality of Life Abbreviated Questionnaire (WHOQOL-bref). Results: The questionnaire question that assessed the quality of life of the interviewees had a prevalence of answers for “neither bad nor good” (12/39%) and “Good” (12/39%) among the alternatives. The question that assessed the quality of sleep of the interviewees had the alternative “dissatisfied” (11/35.4%) as the most marked, followed by “very dissatisfied” (9/29%). In the set of questions that describe “how good or satisfied you felt about various aspects of your life in the last two weeks”. It was evident that the prevalence of participants’ responses was “satisfied”. Discussion: In this study, it was identified that sleep apnea does not cause a significant impact on the Quality of Life of the interviewees, a finding also corroborated by other authors. Even though the interviewees had significant levels of sleep apnea, they responded that they did not feel any impact on their quality of life. Conclusion: The study showed that sleep apnea does not have a direct impact on quality of life, but during some questions it was noticed that there is a contradiction in the answers, because the sample seems to be satisfied with the quality of life, but also reports being dissatisfied with health, sleep and frequently presenting negative thoughts.
