Avaliação do potencial biológico in vitro dos extratos de breu branco

Abstract

The species of the genus Protium , belonging to the Burseraceae family, are endemic in Brazil, mainly in the Amazon region. They are producers of an oily resin, rich in essential oils and triterpenes. Scientific research already proves anti-inflammatory, antitumor, antinociceptive, immunostimulant therapeutic activities, being therefore, a potential to find bioactives that can act against microorganisms and digestive enzymes through extracts. The increase in resistant microorganisms, hyperglycemia, dyslipidemia and obesity currently constitute serious public health problems, thus increasing the need for new drugs and new classes of antibiotics to combat this disease. The objective of the work was to evaluate the biological potential of the Amazonian commercial pitch and to investigate its activity. antibacterial against Staphylococci aureus and Escherichia coli; its antifungal potential against Candida albicans, as well as verifying possible inhibitory activities of the extracts on digestive enzymes.
