Resumo

Indirect pulp capping is a conservative procedure indicated for the treatment of deep carious lesions in teeth with preserved vitality and a diagnosis of reversible pulpitis. The development of bioactive materials, especially calcium silicate–based bioceramic cements, has expanded therapeutic possibilities by providing better sealing ability, greater bioactivity, and stimulation of reparative dentin formation. This study aimed to report the clinical effectiveness of indirect pulp capping using Bio-C Repair bioceramic cement in a Dental Specialties Center (CEO) through the detailed analysis of a clinical case. A 10-year-old female patient was referred to the CEO for endodontic treatment of tooth 16. Clinical and radiographic examinations revealed a deep carious lesion in tooth 26, with close proximity to the pulp but without exposure. Sensitivity testing with Endo-Ice indicated reversible pulpitis, supporting the indication for indirect pulp capping. The procedure included anesthesia, rubber dam isolation, selective caries removal, application of Bio-C Repair on the remaining dentin, and coverage with glass ionomer cement. The patient was later referred for definitive restoration in the pediatric dentistry clinic. Clinical follow-up showed absence of symptoms, preservation of pulp vitality, and favorable evolution consistent with findings reported in the literature. The discussion highlighted that Bio-C Repair presents biological performance comparable or superior to traditional materials such as calcium hydroxide, MTA, and Biodentine, mainly due to its calcium ion release, stimulation of cellular differentiation, and induction of reparative dentin. The case reinforces the applicability of bioceramic cements in public health services and their contribution to modern conservative treatments. It is concluded that the use of Bio-C Repair in indirect pulp capping demonstrated clinical effectiveness, predictability, and the ability to preserve pulp vitality, proving to be a viable and safe alternative for deep carious lesions without pulp exposure.
