Resumo
Volleyball is one of the most common sports in school Physical Education classes in Brazil,
being recognized for its accessibility and potential for developing motor and social skills.
However, teaching this modality faces challenges ranging from the lack of infrastructure to the
need for innovation in the pedagogical practices of teachers in the area. In this sense, the present
work aims to analyze Brazilian scientific production between the years 2013 to 2023, about the
teaching of volleyball in school Physical Education. The research adopts a bibliographical
approach, of the State of Knowledge type. The search for scientific production took place in the
Scielo databases, Virtual Health Library and CAPES Periodic Portal. 103 productions were
found, which went through filtering, and 10 scientific articles were selected as the corpus of
this study, that is, they address the teaching of volleyball in Brazilian schools. In possession of
the findings, three categories of presentation of the results were created: a) A profile of the
scientific production and authors on the teaching of volleyball in School Physical Education;
b) Methodological procedures adopted in research on the teaching of volleyball in School
Physical Education; and, c) Main themes portrayed in research on the teaching of volleyball in
School Physical Education. In relation to the profile of scientific production on the teaching of
volleyball in school Physical Education, between 2013 and 2023, it is noteworthy that the
largest number of publications was in journals specialized in Physical Education, concentrating
studies by authors from the southeast and south of Brazil . Regarding the methodological
procedures covered, research with a qualitative approach predominated, using mainly
instruments such as semi-structured interviews and observation. Regarding the main themes
covered in the research, the importance of methodologies that favor students' autonomy, in
addition to integrating technical and tactical aspects of volleyball, stands out. The increasing
use of technologies, such as digital teaching materials, which contribute to student engagement
and motivation, was also identified. The inclusion of students with disabilities, such as adapted
volleyball, was considered an important practice to promote everyone's participation. This study
contributes to the reflection on the teaching of volleyball in school Physical Education,
highlighting the importance of methodologies that value students' autonomy and critical
thinking, in addition to integrating technologies and inclusive practices. Despite the
improvements observed in pedagogical practices, the lack of resources and the need for teacher
training are challenges that need to be overcome.
