Resumo
This work aims to describe the importance and reflection of cultures introduced by Japanese
immigrants in today's Manauara society. The specific objectives were to understand the concept
of acculturation resulting from Japanese migrations to Brazil, to identify elements of Japanese
culture in the Manaus city and finally analyze how Japanese culture is present in the daily life
of manauara society. On November 5, 1895, the Treaty on Friendship, Trade and Navigation
between Brazil and Japan was signed in Paris, by plenipotentiary ministers of the two countries
accredited to the French government. This would begin the arrival of the first contingent of
immigrants japanese to São Paulo in 1908, to the State of Pará in 1929 and to the State of
Amazonas in 1931. In this context of arrival and adaptation, there were cultures introduced by
Japanese immigrants, which also connected with local cultures, which are in the way life style,
clothing, cooking etc. Several data collection techniques were used, which highlight
bibliographic research and field research with application of questionnaires for senseis and
students of Nippaku, Japanese consulate and Japanese entrepreneurs. The processes of identity
reconstruction of Japanese immigrants, the cultures they brought with them from Japan and how
they are present in current Manauara society. With the main results, it is noteworthy that with
regard to Japanese events and their milestones in cooking, it was observed that these occurred
with a certain frequency in the capital of Amazonas and reach a large number of individuals, not
necessarily, these individuals are linked to a bond of Japanese descent. And that despite the
disclosure of this, occur only by electronic means, the scope of this information is extremely
comprehensive and well received by the local population.
