Pneumatic presses have the function of performing the pressing, stamping,
punching, bending and embedding of components and parts, thus, it becomes an
equipment used in the industrial scope of manufactures. Due to its broad concept, a
range of pneumatic press models is generated, with: different manufacturers,
specifications and behaviors. This work aims to develop and test a small pneumatic
press base model, that is, a 4-cylinder pneumatic press, which is capable of
reproducing the behavior of the other models, but with a more compact design and a
larger flexibility compared to others. For this, the research was used a Programmable
Logic Controller with the function to control the other devices of the system, and a
Human-Machine Interface that will serve as an interface for the user to be able to
program his behavior and visualize information relevant to the process. To program
the system, the Ladder language was used, seeking a complete and robust system, in
order to meet all established premises. After the development of the research, a 4-
cylinder pneumatic press model was obtained, with a compact design, and capable of
reproducing the behavior of the other models presented during the work, as seen in
the simulated and practical tests. The developed model brought the application of the
main concepts aimed at: compact, for being a model with a slightly smaller physical
volume compared to the larger models; versatility, in the sense of being able to replace
any of the models presented; practicality, in the segment of being able to do all the
existing processes with ease.
