A Representação da Marginalidade e da Pobreza na obra “A Hora da Estrela” de Clarice Lispector

Abstract

This final project aims to analyze and expand the critical debate on issues related to marginality and poverty, present in the work “A hora da Estrela” (1977) by Clarice Lispector, one of the most emblematic and prominent works in Brazilian literature. The main objective of this research is to analyze and investigate the various representations in the work, thus exploring the psychological, social, and symbolic meanings of these representations, in addition to establishing a reflective path with other works and theorists from the philosophical and sociological fields that reinforce the issues studied and worked on in the research. The research is theoretical in nature and has a bibliographic and interdisciplinary focus, which explores various critical aspects that provoke debate on social classes. When discussing social ills and representations in the work, the work focuses on Lispector's stylistic and discursive aspects and characteristics, exploring the various sensitive issues and the symbolic construction of each of the characters, and how the author, through her writing, contributes to the reflection on certain representations. The monograph is based on chapters of Theoretical Framework, Methodology and Data Analysis, and each chapter supports and constitutes the critical and reflective basis of this research, emphasizing the critical debate on historical, political, and social elements represented in The Hour of the Star. However, the research objectifies an approach that goes beyond literature in its subjective field, but that incorporates significant elements about the social debate, guiding a better understanding of social nuances.
