Resumo

The article deals with the Course Completion Work - TCC exposing the results of the research that has as its theme "The incentive to read through amazonian legends in elementary school in Alvarães - AM". We know that our Amazon is full of spells and stories. The people living on this green ground are rich in knowledge, rich in spectacular culture and legend telling. In this respect, from this curiosity, there was an interest in hearing from teachers and students their knowledge and difficulties related to the legends of our daily life. Thus, we outline as a general objective to provide the faculty with contact with a regional bibliographic collection to facilitate the teaching-learning process aiming at encouraging reading through Amazonian legends. The theoretical framework was based on Terra (2019), Kleiman (2010), Costa (2009), Cardoso (2018) and Freire (2001). The methodology was based on qualitative approach and field research based on Chizzotti (2006), Marconi and Lakatos (1999). The techniques were observation and the mixed questionnaire used to collect true information. The target audience was two teachers and five students from the 6th and 9th grade. The results collected show the difficulties of the students in reading, but the legends were paramount for the development of orality and strengthening of student knowledge. Thus, we consider that the textual genre is rich in cultural knowledge and magic, so it is indicated to the students
