Resumo

The present work aims to understand how the bilingual communication process occurs in the teaching and learning of Deaf academics at the State University of Amazonas at the Centro de Estudos Superiores de Parintins (UEA-CESP). With this, we discuss bilinguality with which we deal with the particularities of languages ​​in the bilingual process between Libras and Portuguese in the university context of Deaf academics. The research methods and procedures were observational, where we obtained some records and discursive processes made during the construction process of the research topic. Since we seek to show the importance of Libras and the Portuguese language for Deaf University Students, indicating and analyzing their difficulties in the bilingual communication process and their positioning inside and outside the university. Thus, the results indicate that the Deaf academic is a bilingual individual who, despite their barriers and difficulties with the Portuguese language in formal academic situations, manages to have proficiency in both languages.
