Resumo
The problem of food waste is present in the most diverse areas of society. Based on this concern, the present research aimed to identify the main factors that cause the waste of in natura food in school lunches by Elementary School II students, from a state public school in the city of Parintins-AM. It was found that in recent years, there has been a nutritional adequacy in the food menu, removing part of the processed foods and replacing them with natural foods from local family farming. To prove the effectiveness of the research, a questionnaire with objective questions was applied to the students, in addition to conversations to find out their positions on the subject. As for the results, it was proven that most of the students do not like to consume some natural products, this is mainly linked to the lack of healthy habits at home, as well as the absence of these foods in everyday life. It is believed that such waste can be minimized when the school together with the parents create alternatives that enable students to consciously consume these foods.
