Resumo
This paper aims to analyze the gender inequality revealed in the labor market structure in the
Brazilian regions, focusing on three main indicators: a) academic formation b) formal work and
c) informal work, based on data collected at the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics
(IBGE). In the 21st Century, women are still the group that faces the greatest obstacles to
accessing the labor market, receive lower salaries even performing activities similar to those
performed by men, despite having more studies, due to factors such as household chores, By
caring for children, the glass ceiling phenomenon can explain these barriers to women and the
characteristics of the informal market make it easier for women to reconcile their professional
and personal lives.
