Resumo
Black slavery in Brazil brought deep marks to contemporary society, more specifically the black population of our country. With this in mind, the present work aims to carry out a study about the condition of the black man from the slavery period to the present day. To compose the text, we will study two great works of Brazilian Literature. The poem Navio Negreiro, by Castro Alves, known as the “poet of slaves”, describes with terrible images and expressions the situation of Africans uprooted from their lands, separated from their families and treated like animals on slave ships, a work from the 19th century and Eviction Room: Diary of a Favela, by Carolina Maria de Jesus, where she narrates her daily life as a black woman, a single mother, poorly educated and a resident of the Canindé favela, in São Paulo, faithfully reporting the pain, the suffering, hunger and anguish of the favelados. 20th century work.
