This study aims to compare the evolution of inflammatory signs in victims of botropic poisoning at the site of poisoning in groups with or without intervention and describe the clinical-epidemiological profile of the patients. Method: this is an open randomized clinical trial. The study population consists of all patients who were hospitalized with an accident due to botropic poisoning during the study period. Participants signed the informed consent form and completed a questionnaire with sociodemographic and clinical epidemiological characteristics. A thermography camera was used to evaluate the inflammatory process in the affected limbs. The data were entered into specific software for clinical trials and were analyzed according to the intention-to-treat analysis technique. Results: on the third day of intervention, 44% (n= 19) of participants were classified as mild edema, 57% (n=8) in the hot approach groups and 53% (n= 8) cold, while in the control group 21% (n=3) were mild. Conclusion: the hot compress proved to be more effective in improving inflammatory signs. Brazilian clinical trials registry number: U1111-11691005
