Resumo
The present work intends to analyze and compare, in the light of Greimasian
Discursive Semiotics, the sanction that occurs in Greco-Roman and Amazonian mythological
narratives, pondering the metamorphosis. Therefore, this work defines sanction and how it
occurs in narratives, searches for episodes of Greco-Roman and Amazonian narratives that
show sanction and compares the sanctions of narrative episodes found in both cultures. The
method used was the bibliographic research, with studies of texts such as articles, books, etc.
In addition to the introduction and final considerations, this work has two sections: the first is
intended for the development of the theoretical framework, including the definition of sanction;
the second, to the results and analysis of the narratives. As main results, it is inferred that both
the Greco-Roman society and the Amazon society have mythological narratives in which there
are sanctions through metamorfosis
