Indigenous women from the middle Solimões have been active since the late 1980s, but different people pass the movement, in the 1990s and in part of the first decade of 2000, they (as a political organization) became more dependence on the larger indigenous movement, on the general struggles of the peoples of this region, however, in 2009were able to organize through the Women's Association Indigenous Peoples of the Middle Solimões and Affluents (AMIMSA), this association boosted debates, reflections and actions directed to women's lives.
