Identify health self-care in the COVID 19 pandemic, from the perspective of rural/riverside elderly people in Amazonas. Method: This is a descriptive qualitative research, carried out in two rural/riverside communities, with elderly people aged 60 and over, residents of the community for at least 2 years. To collect data, the Focus Group (FG) technique was used. Data organization was carried out using the MAXQDA software, also using content analysis. The research was tested at CEP/UEA under opinion no. 5,977,008. Results and discussion: Two FGs were held in different communities, with the participation of 14 elderly people. After analysis, the following categories emerged: Preventing COVID 19, using home remedies and Self-Care. Conclusion: Through the data obtained in the research, it is possible to infer that knowing the intervention process and the adoption of self-care practices in health during the COVID 19 pandemic, from the point of view of elderly people living in rural and riverside areas of the Amazon, is of utmost importance, especially for the health professional, specifying the role of the nurse, who in many rural and riverside communities are the only professionals to provide health care, given the long distances and obstacles to reach the communities
