Resumo
The present paper aims to report the experience of the project entitled “magic cube as a tool in Mathematics classes”. The project activities were carried out through workshops, using the Rubik's cube or magic cube, as a playful educational resource, in order to highlight the importance of games and hands-on materials in the teaching of Mathematics. During the realization of the project, 18 workshops were held, targeting seventh year students, aged between 12 and 13 years old, from a Municipal School, located in the municipality of Denise, state of Mato Grosso, Brazil. The research adopted a qualitative approach, through experience with students beginning to practice the magic cube. In this perspective, the path taken to solve the cube was the layered method (3x3x3), with notation of the algorithms adapted for the class. The use of this puzzle as a pedagogical resource, promoted dynamism in the classes and favored the learning of Mathematics. Once the students were motivated and challenged to unveil the secrets needed to assemble the cube. The conclusion is that the use of the Rubik's cube contributed to the development of skills and stimuli in the students participating in the workshop, such as: greater concentration and greater interest in mathematics classes. In addition, the use of this manipulative material allowed a more interactive approach to the subject of Mathematics, and with greater significance for students, due to the dynamism that the puzzle offers.
