Resumo

Parasitic diseases are a public health problem, where intestinal parasites affect humans, especially individuals in school. One of the most common parasitic diseases found in adolescents is ascariasis, and in the municipality of Tefé-Am, 75% of the population between 2013 and 2014 contracted this infection. Therefore, the objective of this study was to analyze the knowledge of high school students from a public school on this topic, in addition to analyzing the textbook that the teacher works with. For this, a questionnaire was applied that contained questions distributed between multiple choice and discursive, where it was necessary to answer the taxonomic classification, infectious forms, popular names and if there was a point of contamination in your school. The results indicated that the classes have difficulties in expressing themselves on the subject, because in a way, they have superficial information, showing the need to acquire better learning, emphasizing important points. The analyzed textbook approaches this content superficially, without emphasizing the sources of contamination or the parasites most commonly found in schools, as is the case of ascariasis. Therefore, it was possible to conclude that education needs didactic and transversal means so that complex and important subjects like this one can be passed on effectively so that information is not limited to the classroom alone.
