Resumo
The present work is a case study that aims to understand the indebtedness of the students of the Youth
and Adult Education Center - CEJA, mainly in the relationship between the level of financial education
and the level of indebtedness. The research, in the end, is characterized as descriptive and exploratory.
As for the environment, it is characterized as a case study, bibliographic and field, having a quantitative
approach. It was used as a research instrument the structured questionnaire and statistical analysis to
achieve the objectives of the present work. Given this, the study found that personal financial
indebtedness is directly related to the lack of financial fundamentals, that is, financial education.
Therefore, we may have people with different income levels and in the same way be in debt. Regarding
the level of indebtedness, it was noticed that most students were in debt. It was concluded that a greater
knowledge of financial education positively influences the condition of lower individual debt levels, but
this knowledge does not exclude the possibility of contracting risky debts and becomes indebted.
