Resumo
The present study discusses the employment of labor distributed sectorially in the states comprising the Western Brazilian Amazon, namely: Acre,
Amazonas, Rondônia and Roraima. Given the progress surrounding debates on regional thinking and their respective impacts, both individually and collectively, and given
that the Amazon region is an important area of emphasis for the development of
north of Brazil, the question arises: which are the most important economic activities
from the perspective of employment for the Western Brazilian Amazon? The research aims to carry out
an analysis of the productive dynamics of the region in question, based on monitoring
of sectoral employment. Through investigation of labor allocation as well as
analysis of the representation of each of the sectors. Using data taken
of the Annual Social Information Report (RAIS), the period covered was the year
1990 to 2019, which was divided into four three-year averages in order to mitigate fluctuations
throughout the period. Checking through 8 sectors, per UF, the measure chosen for
measurement of sectoral specialization was the Locational Quotient. Through this measure,
it was possible to verify the behavior and sectoral specialization in each of the regions,
thus making it possible to assess which sector (or sectors) is most relevant in the respective
States.
