Presentation. Anyone who passionately looks through the window of reading immediately remembers the poetry of Vinicius de Moraes when he reflects that life really is an art that is strengthened by
encounter. This passion for reading brings together the book, the author and many, many readers. It's impossible to be with the book alone, standing still, because the book is an object that unsettles us and takes us to another unknown, different from us. That's why this passion is best understood when we
when we put it into practice and spread it throughout the community. Sometimes, all it takes is for a reader to
that another reader and another book appear and various reading spaces that were previously invisible to us.
spaces that were invisible to us before.
In this way, we make visible spaces that were previously forgotten or erased because, as
Manguel (2014)1 we come to understand that "[w]e inhabit the space of the Earth
through the multitude of languages we use", the books we read, the stories we hear and tell, in this
stories we hear and tell, in this endless time of narrative and enunciation and from the
constitution of memory, since the "library of each one of us lies in our individual identity, created
identity, created by what we think we are and by our palimpsest of memories
- episodes, characters, phrases, words" (MANGUEL, 2014). This library is built
by the encounters we have in spaces of varying dimensions and pluralized by the
diversity of its collections, which occurs through multiple equations, because you don't have to
visit the library of Alexandria - the one that should contain all the books in the world - to
the experience of reading full of meaning, it is necessary to turn this experience, whether individual or collective, into an individual or collective, into a singular act capable of traversing our biographies that will be shared throughout our lives. that will be shared throughout our lives. Thus, the cultural project Creation of the Community Library Network of
Presidente Figueiredo was born out of the concern that there are many people
practicing reading, but without dialoguing with each other. Thus, when we discovered
libraries in the municipality of Presidente Figueiredo, in Amazonas, and because we considered
their existence so important, we idealized them as a network. In this encounter between
book, reading, literature, libraries, literacy mediators and diverse knowledge, the
Cachoeiras de Letras Network. To this end, we also looked for those who were already working together in the library and community sense in Brazil and found the Amazônia
Literary Network, the northern arm of the National Network of Community Libraries.
The storyteller Joana Chagas, from the
Bombomler Library, a member of the Literary Amazon Network (PA). Already with us, she recited
a text by Valter Hugo Mãe at the first meeting with the creators of the community libraries
community libraries mapped in the project, which will be presented in the first text of this e-book,
in a brief Memoir. The Portuguese writer points out that "libraries
should be declared part of the airport family, because they are places of departure and arrival.
Books are directly related to airplanes, flying carpets or birds" (MOTHER)2 .
.
The author also reminds us, in a poetic and sensitive way, that "all books are infinite.
They begin with the text and extend through the imagination. That's why texts are more than
that's why texts are more than gigantic, they're absurd in a way that you can't even calculate" (MOTHER). And in this
infinitude, readings associated with human experiences are constructed on a daily basis,
re-signified by the unique act of the moment of the event, which is repeated as many and
as many times as the books can last, even if the readers assume their role as
of travelers, passing through or saying goodbye.
This is why the movement we are making seems essential. We expand the network
to you, to many other readers and to the libraries that come to extend these threads woven
now. We are doing this through the actions involved in the project and the records we have lived through in this
material we present here. This e-book is the result of the First Advisory Meeting,
promoted by the cultural project Criação da Rede de Bibliotecas Comunitárias de
Presidente Figueiredo, giving rise to a movement of interaction between professionals
who deal directly with areas that are important to libraries, but often overlooked, such as
left out, such as lawyers, economists, administrators and social communicators.
communicators. The way we see it, a library is a workplace that involves managers,
mediators, librarians, assistants, teachers and many readers, in other words, an educational and social
business that can generate many jobs and create a more supportive and creative economy for its communities.
economy for their communities.
The First Advisory Meeting took place virtually, using the
platform, in the first half of 2021, as an initial part of the project that involved the
creators of the libraries Casa da Cultura do Urubuí, Paulo Freire, Portal da Cultura
Munguba, Centro Cultural Zé Amador and BambuLER; some students from the Núcleo de
