Resumo
The article has as its theme the importance of the initiation project to teaching (PIBID) in the hieraquiring of mathematical contents of great relevance in the teaching of mathematics in basic education. The research is justified by the importance of the discussion about "what" and "how" to teach mathematics from the point of view of teachers and students of three public schools in the city of Manaus. For that, field research was used through the following procedures: observations, interviews and questionnaires with teachers and students. The research was based on the ideas of authors such as D'Ambrosio (2012), Pais (2002), Pimenta (2012), Imbernón (2011), among others. The research proposal will be presented in three sections, the first one referring to the difficulties encountered by the mathematics teacher, later, it will open space to the relevant aspects encountered during the research, finishing the work with the cataloging of the essential topics in basic education mathematics in education, taking into account the process of formation as a whole. In short, the essential contents in the understanding of mathematics and suggestions, with teaching activities.
