A cheia de 2021 na cidade de Barreirinha (AM): impactos socioambientais no Bairro Ulisses Guimarães

Abstract

The presente article aimed to understand how the floods affect the health, mobility and income of the residentes of the Ulisses Guimarães neighborhood, in the city of Barreirinha-AM. Like most municipalities in Amazonas, the city of Barreirinha suffers from the great floods that occur annually in the region. In the case studied, a recente irregular occupation has its problems highlighted by looding events. Therefore, it is justified to carry out this work, the search to explore the main social and environmental problems related to the flood facced by the people of barreirinhense, as a resulto f irregular occupations. Ando r these reasons, a more in-deoth study was sought on the natural phenomenon of flooding in its hydrological regime, related to the irregular urban plan that are occupied by the population, especially those with llow incomes. To understand this work, we propose analyzes with a qualitative-quantitative approach, developed in four (4) moments and relying on primary and secondary data. In the analysis and discussion we concluded that in extreme floods, the city of Barreirinha suffers from social, economic and environmental impacts, with emphasis on the emergence of diarrheal diseases and looded houses even with the efforts of the municipal body. There was also a rate of economic vulnerability due to the lack of employment in this period of flooding, which left people in a more affected situation.
