Resumo
Pedagogy is a field of knowledge dedicated to the systematic study of education, the
educational act, and educational practice. It addresses the educational phenomenon
and, in the contemporary context, has become increasingly relevant to meet growing
educational demands. Today, it is recognized that pedagogues can contribute
significantly not only within schools, but also beyond them. Although schools are the
main field of activity for pedagogues, the diversity of educational practices has
increased in society, which expands the role of pedagogy to other environments
outside of school. This study aims to understand how the professional performance
of pedagogues is configured in non-school settings in the city of Manaus. The aim is
to study the theoretical foundations of pedagogy as a science of education, identify
the areas in which pedagogues work in non-school educational settings in Manaus,
and analyze the practices of pedagogues in these environments. The research is
based on studies by Libâneo (1994, 1997, 2001), Saviani (2007), Pimenta (2011),
Franco (2008, 2016), Severo (2015, 2018), and others that address Pedagogy as a
science of education. This is a qualitative investigation in education, with
bibliographic and documentary study. The Evidential Paradigm by the Italian historian
Carlo Ginzburg (1989) was used for data collection and analysis. The areas of action
of the pedagogue identified through the evidence were labor pedagogy, legal
pedagogy, health pedagogy, cultural pedagogy, among others. The traces of the
practices of pedagogues in non-school educational spaces are related to
participation in the planning, coordination, evaluation, organization and management
of systems and people, activities that are related to the work of pedagogues stricto
sensu. The study suggests expanding the debate on the training and professional
performance of pedagogues, as well as knowledge of pedagogical practices in the
training and work context in non-school institutions.
