A invisibilidade da obra indianista Simá – Romance histórico do Alto Amazonas de Lourenço Amazonas: abordagem histórico-literária do Amazonas no século xix

Abstract

This paper seeks to highlight the Indianist work “Simá- Romance Histórico do Alto Amazonas” (1857), by Lourenço da Silva Araújo Amazonas, which has been notably neglected in literary studies. The main objective is to analyze the invisibility of this work through a historical-literary approach to the Amazon in the 19th century, aiming to demonstrate its impact on the Amazonian identity. The adopted methodology, of a bibliographic and exploratory nature of a qualitative nature, uses na evidentiary approach and comparative analysis as a procedure. From this perspective, the research integrates reading, reflection, critical analysis, reception and critical-reflexive discussion, with theoretical foundations from authors such as Ginzburg (1989), Marconi and Lakatos (2017), Severino (2013), among others. The results show that, although marginalized and silenced by the literary canon, Simá-Romance Histórico do Alto Amazonas contributes significantly to the preservation of a forgotten part of Brazilian literature. Therefore, this research strengthens the recognition of literary production from the North as na essential part of the memory and history of Amazonas, through the analysis of this pioneering narrative. For theoretical support, authors such as Candido (2002), Cunha (1990), Mignolo (2003), Souza (2003; 2019), Telles and Graça (2021), among others of equal relevance, were used.
